Apparently a young girl has several horses she is starving to death. One is a grade bay stud that she purchased on false pretenses from someone I know fairly well.
She began riding this horse at eighteen months old, and then he began to rapidly drop weight.
There are more images, but I think this will suffice, for now. Some of you may say, Well, I've seen far more emaciated horses.
So have I. Does that make it okay? The time to step in is before the horse is on death's door.
Multiple people were offering to help this girl. To pay for a vet visit. To pay to geld this creature. To buy the horse from her. To take the horse. To transport the horse.
The girl made only excuses. Excuse after ridiculous excuse. I'm flat out tired of it.
I wrote a reply to one of the posts that people were talking on, but when I went to hit "enter" the post had been deleted. So I'll post it here. I'm so far past caring about hurting people's feelings.
I know the sheriff's office out our way won't do jack diddly. Had a severely emaciated stallion living across the street that got out of his wire (smooth wire, NOT hot) several times to harass my mares and beg for food. The owners would leave him in his little pen and be gone for a week at a time. I fed him several times from my own hay.
However - having worked in rescue with various species for a very long time, I know a bit more than I should... I suggest you post a picture, Miranda, and quickly, because I have little patience. I've seen enough horses starve to death this year and I simply cannot stomach another. I am the head of one of the largest developed networks online and nothing escapes my notice unless I want it to. I am sick to death of allowing people to abuse and neglect their animals with no repercussions.
I have set into motion a very serious case against someone who is defrauding the United States government AND abusing her horses while breeding them, and I won't hesitate to start something against you. Even if I cannot bring legal charges against you, it is fully in my power to destroy your name on the Internet. And guess what - it's not libel if it's true. I just put my beloved dog down yesterday and I am just not in the mood to sit here and read your excuses. I would like to see a picture of this horse now, please.
Yeah, it's harsh. And it will only get harsher, miss Miranda. It's time to put your big girl panties on and own up to the fact you cannot handle the horses you have and need help. There is NO SHAME in taking help when you need it.
The shame comes when you lie and refuse to do the right thing.
I have a neighbor that has cows and horses that he starves but our animal control will not do anything about it, it makes me very sick to see it happen. There has been several people that offered to buy these animals but he refuses to sell.

If you sue for slander, you have to show that everything Kristina posted here is false including the pictures and that she posted these not for the well being of the horse but just to hurt you. Well the 18 months is a load of garbage. He is 7 and is a jockey club registration. I have proof from a vet he has a liver issue. We have him on the suppliment he needs and is getting better. Also another thing. Katie why dont you explain the situation before you go around bashing people. Dont.just say she is starving them to death. How about you tell them what you told me to put him on feed wise. He continued to drop weight when you said id see a diffrence in a week? Well I did. He lost weight.

ReplyDeleteEvery horse thats been on chaffhaye that I have seen witch is over 35 all are FAT happy and healthy!! We have had all the rescues on it and they look great. Funny how a little chaffhaye and feed already has Seinna and Sadie (Lady A) gaining weight!! They have been with Carroll since June 3rd and you can see a big differnce.
If you were truly feeding your horses they would look much better. As much as you claim to be feeding Native he should have already gained at least 75 pounds in a weeks time...
What supplement is he on for his LIVER issue? Your story seems to change with everything which is funny to me. I have more proof and info then you know and your not helping your case by covering lies with lies.

Ok everyone, I am going to give you some info on all of this crap! Miranda was looking for "work" last summer. We do not have enough horses to really need help or afford to hire someone, we are a small family operated ranch. Anyways after talking to her a little bit she saw that I had a colt for sale, she calls him Aztec. She said she wanted to buy him, well we worked out a deal that she would pay $450 cash and work off the rest as she wanted to "learn" more as well. The first time we met her we went and picked her up and the 1 horse she had at that time was Liberty. She was healthy at that time. Well the mare that Aztec was out of, we got her as a rescue moreless she was very thin and didn't even look pregnant, the guy pasture bred and didn't really know when she was bred (we also got another mare from him that was fat though) Well Aztec's dam was suppose to be due in late August, she foaled June 10th! We only had her about 2-3 months before she foaled! At 3 months old Aztec was not growing like he should have so we consulted a vet and he said since he was eating grain and hay very well that we could wean him just make sure he had good feed. He was getting good grain plenty of nice hay (all he could eat and more) and colt grow. When we weaned him the mare never got a big bag, so the reason he wasn't growing was because he wasn't getting enough milk from the mare that was starved down when we got her. If we would have had a little more time with her before she foaled it might have made a difference. Anyways Miranda knew all of this and still wanted him. (He did not have a herna when we had him and because of the mares health this colt was checked at 2 or 3 days old by the vet to make sure he had everything he needed, he also checked everthing else. In the process of buying Aztec she was looking for a horse to ride other than Liberty. Well our family had been given 2 horses by a lady that could no longer care for them due to her age and the recent death of her husband, THEY WERE STILL FAT she just didn't have the strength to do it much longer. So before they got in bad health she found a home for them. Well my family had no use for them and they were just in the pasture. Well we acting as an agent, was told to sell the 2 horses. One being and 8 year old paint mare that we had bred to our AQHA stud prior to our family deciding to sell them. Well Miranda bought her in June. The mare was due to foal in late February early March (the mare carried over). The mare was being ridden a lot! She started to drop weight well they had changed her feed to an allstock pellet! Then took her on a 20 mile trail ride when she was 8-9 months along, there is pictures of her soaked with sweat! Oh and the "horse" wanted to RUN a lot. (which is crap that horse was lazy LOL) She continued to drop weight and they never listened about putting her back on the feed she was on here, that she stayed fat on but she also had hay here! Well she got Aztec to her house last week of October or first week of September. (I have proof of that) and pictures! Well as a little time went on I had a mare that she really liked well I put it up for sale (regrefully I sold her another one) She bought 3 horses from us, but as she advertized them for sale recently (DUE TO FIANCIALLY ISSUES) she said that all the horses came from bad situations! I envite anyone to come see the bad situation my horses are in or go to our facebook page (Ward Family Ranch) we aren't fancy but our horses are loved and cared for, wormed regularly, plenty of hay and grain!
ReplyDeleteAnyways the paint mare with a foal that is skinny that she is giving the excuse she is skinny because of the baby well that mare is 8 not 28 and this is her first baby! This is pure lack of hay, feed and NORMAL care. This girl has tried to lie about us saying that these horses were abused and skinny! BULL CRAP!!! Also the paint filly that was purchased at auction by Miranda, she calls Sienna,(recently sold thankfully) She was fat when she bought her!!! I was there, as I had to haul it!! She didn't have a trailer!! I am tired of the lies and all the crap! For those of you who want the whole story here is most of it. She had some nice horses that now need lots of extra care and she is too selfish to sell them. That stud is suppose to have a mineral issue with his liver, we have a thoroughbred that had the same thing and keeping weight on is NOT an issue but she has a few white spots on her from it. It is very common in RacingThoroughbreds. Their liver over works as they are in training and racing and it would be like us on an extreme work out we are going to start missing some vitamins if we are not careful! She also had a grulla filly that was beautiful! Until she got her! She recently sold her. The filly was a year old and in such poor shape it made you sick! All you will ever get from Miranda or her mother who has issues all her own, is lies excuses and more lies and excuses! I have cought them in more lies than you can image. Miranda even lied to her mom about how much she bought that paint filly at auction for she told her $180 when she paid $200 can you believe she would lie over $20?? I just want to clear the air and share some truth of the situation. I want nothing more than the safty of the horses and I will do anything to help. It sickens me that I sold her some beautiful horses to only have her ruin them!!! We warned her she was going to get in way over her head and not be able to feed them. Don't waste your breath trying to give her advise she will not listen, she is a teenager and knows it all!

I would really like to find out what is going on here. I went to this young girls house today in hopes of purchasing the animal that was in such bad shape. As I drove up I saw the other horses in the pasture. These horses were NOT malnourished. I agree the mare with the foal was a little than but she was far from being malnourished. After seeing these horses I began to wonder if I had the right address as these horses were nothing as to what has been stated here. I stopped in and met the young girl and her mother. They took me out to the barn to show me the stallion in question. He was in bad looking shape but as I talked to them I found that the stallion is suffering from a liver disease Cholelithiasis. They showed me a report from Dr White a local Veternarian showing this diagnosis. I am really glad that I took the time to check this whole ordeal out. I don't know what is going on here but these accusations are completely false. I don't know what this young girl could have done to you to cause you to maliciously lie about these horses. I verified that the sheriffs department and the spca has investigated this incident and found no basis for your lies. If I was in there shoes I would have you in court. I was as mad as everyone else on this blog after reading your lies. But I found out they were lies. I even went so far as to talk to a deputy sheriff and it seems they seem to know you pretty well. Seems you do this quite a bit. You get everyone stirred up with your lies and take advantage of it as a so-called rescue. Then you in turn sell the horses for a profit. I can't believe anyone can be so cruel as to cause all this commotion for the reason of profit. Profit of a young girl who is haveing her life threatened because of your lies. I can only hope that you get yours in the end. You should be in prison. I pray this all backfires on you and the people on this site will see you as you really all. ReplyDeleteI have a thoroughbred with the same issue, would you like to see her pictures? You are right this stuff gets blown way out of proportion sometimes. You have to understand something too, not just the "girls" that started pressing the issue have been the only ones that called the police. You are also right about something else Sean, the treats and such need to stop nothing every good comes from that crap. However you have to admit that this horse needs help. Many people have offered to help. I don't care how the horse gets help, wether she finds a feeding program that works, someone helps show her the RIGHT way to feed and she takes the advise to heart, or worse case the horse is taken. Which I will stick my neck out there and say as long as the horse starts putting on weight and gets help I would hope it doesn't happen. If you have any questions I will answer them.

DeleteIs completely false! Unless you are working on the case with the ASPCA then the sheriff will NOT give out the info you stated above. Im not sure what deputy sheriff KNOWS US PRETTY WELL because we are NOT from that county! And have never reported to the Sheriff not even on this case -someone else reported it before we had the chance. Keep up your mouth running about us lying and you thinking you know who we are, For one, none of the horses we have had in our Rescue (TT) have been sold for profit, 80% of them were given away for FREE and we have all documentation from the previous owners of these horses them GIVING them up because they could no longer care for them, like Miranda SHOULD be doing. If you are talking about The Pegasus Project rescue then you really dont know your stuff! Another thing is you HAVE not talked to SPCA or ASPCA because we would have been notified by them if you had. Another thing the ASPCA nor SPCA has been to Miranda's house like shes telling everyone that they have.
All I can say is we have more proof than she can show- the horses need help and thats that.

I am no stranger to thin horses, having rehabilitated many in my time. If the situation is as claimed, so be it. I'll let it rest - you'll notice no where is there PERSONAL information about this girl ON MY SITE. I also never said a word about her other horses - why would I? I have no information on them (currently, anyhow.)

I have not been in this country but a year but I have made it a point to meet people. Maybe if you would pull your spurs in you might get some people to talk to you also. I didn't come on here to bash anyone. I'm just telling you the facts. I did speak with a deputy. Name was Dennis. You can check this if you wish. I did see these horses and there were in fact very healthy. You can check this also. My point was that what you have started is causing this family to receive death threats. If you wanted to report it to animal control or the sheriff's deparment then you should have done it, not bashing a teenager and causing her to get death threats. Your posts are nasty, malicious and frankly quite catty. Seems you are the one acting like a teenager. Not the other way around.

So, if it is a medical condition that is taking it's toll this bad why not make the decision to do right by the horse and put him out of his pain and suffering? I understand no one likes the thought of putting down a beloved pet, but in situations like this it is not about what we want. It is about what is best for the animal in question.

ReplyDeleteAnd yes, if the horse is having such a bad time, euthanasia needs to be considered. I just put down my beloved dog because she had several medical conditions that took a sudden turn for the worse.

Deleteoh my. Did anything ever come of this drama? My feeling is that if someone is innocent they shouldn't feel threatened, or that they have to prove their innocence. With that knowledge, if they have any wisdom, they move to kindly provide the proof and invite the "investigations" that are needed because anyone can improve with advice. The negative / attacking seems and tends to illustrate some sort of guilt. However, either way, i hope that someone was able to get to the bottom of this if at all possible.
